Mission & Objectives

The purpose of the Milwaukee Public Theatre is to create and present of visual, theatrical, and performing arts productions and related activities through the development and maintenance of a professional company. In creating and presenting the arts, the following goals and objectives are addressed, especially focusing on Access, Diversity, and Imagination:

  • To make the arts financially, intellectually, and geographically accessible to all people who may wish to experience them
  • To create art that reflects the world and place we live in and the culture that we create
  • To create art that encourages people to develop and utilize their ability to think critically
  • To promote the arts as a resource for personal, community, and cultural transformation
  • To develop forms that empower people to participate in the ongoing creation of their culture
  • To apply theatrical traditions and forms toward a greater understanding of present social conditions
  • To create art that is a resource of celebration
