Mission & Objectives

The purpose of the Milwaukee Public Theatre is to create and present of visual, theatrical, and performing arts productions and related activities through the development and maintenance of a professional company. In creating and presenting the arts, the following goals and objectives are addressed, especially focusing on Access, Diversity, and Imagination:

To make the arts financially, intellectually, and geographically accessible to all people who may wish to experience them
To create art that reflects the world and place we live in and the culture that we create
To create art that encourages people to develop and utilize their ability to think critically
To promote the arts as a resource for personal, community, and cultural transformation
To develop forms that empower people to participate in the ongoing creation of their culture
To apply theatrical traditions and forms toward a greater understanding of present social conditions
To create art that is a resource of celebration
