Fall Fundraiser 2007

Volunteer with Milwaukee Public Theatre

Dear Friends,

We would love to involve you as a volunteer of MPT for our 2007 Season. Milwaukee Public Theate has continued to reach out to under-served populations since 1974, making the arts accessible with original theatreworks that address social issues and community-building workshops and arts residencies that give people a creative voice.

We now reach over 100,000 people a year, with quality productions free-to-the public! Milwaukee Public Theatre has its roots in a profound belief in the arts as a healing resource that must be available to all people, regardless of age, ability/disability, culture, ethnicity or income level. From our beginnings as a 2-person company of mime/musician/storytellers, we have grown into a multi-faceted outreach arts organization working yearly with over 100 artists from all cultures and arts disciplines and reaching over 100,000 people with highly diverse programming that tours throughout our community and beyond. We aspire to be interactive, thought-provoking and celebrational.

You can support Milwaukee Public Theatre in a varity of ways. One way is to volunteer a few hours with us. We need volunteers like you, who are willing to give their time to improve the lives of children, and their communities.

Board Member

Milwaukee Public Theatre is looking for board members to volunteer for our 2007-2008 season. We are looking for dedicated individuals from diverse backgrounds with an interest in art, education, and non-profit work. We hold meetings once a month, for 1-2 hrs. We have an annual fund-raiser which all members are required to participate in. There is training and orientation provided.

Archive Project

Milwaukee Public Theatre has over 20 yrs. of footage and original scripts to be digitized and made available on-line. Videotapes can be transferred in our office to DVD format. Tapes are 1- 1.5 hrs long. A brief description of the play will be needed to catalog the dvd’s. MPT also has a catalog of original scripts that need to be re-typed and saved electronically. All scripts are available in our office and can be re-typed in the comfort of your own home. Please see our listing on volunteermatch.org, or email us directly.

Drumdance/Performance Usher

Milwaukee Public Theatre has been "artist in residence" at Lincoln Center of the Arts middle school for over 20 years. Annual MPT performances are held in LCA, and we are always looking for ushers to help support our audience. Our 07-08 seanson show is Drumdance, held December 5th, 6th, at 10:00am and noon. December 7th at 10:00am, 12:00, and 7:00pm. Ushers will need to arrive 30 min. prior to showtime for orientation. Shifts will be 1 hour long. If interested contact Ife@milwaukeepublictheatre.org

 

Costume and Prop Organizing

Milwaukee Public Theatre has housed years of costumes, props, and supplies at the Lincoln Center of the Arts. Costumes and props need to be organized, moved, and repaired if necessary for future use.
